Congress is in recess during the week of May 29-June 2. If you have not already, now is the perfect time to invite your Members of Congress, specifically your Senators, to visit your school to see firsthand how cutting Medicaid funds will directly undermine the ability of public schools to meet the educational needs of students with disabilities and students in poverty. NSBA and AASA (The School Superintendents Association) are partnering in a Call to Action to save school-based Medicaid programs currently under threat from provisions in the American Health Care Act.
For more information, read NSBA's issue brief on the American Health Care Act and AASA's summary of how schools use Medicaid. Please consider inviting your Members of Congress into your schools next week to see what Medicaid services mean to your students.
