Senate Action on the "Improving Child Nutrition, Integrity and Access Act of 2016”

Friday, September 23, 2016

Last week, we reported that the U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee was taking action on the Improving Child Nutrition, Integrity and Access Act of 2016, to consider the bill under a unanimous consent agreement. After the bill was filed for unanimous consent at the end of last week, several “holds” were placed on the bill, preventing full consideration of the bill under the unanimous consent process.

Staff will continue to address the concerns of the members who stopped the bill from consideration, but with the Senate adjourning next week, it is not likely that the bill will proceed until after the election.  Over the next month, NSBA will remain active and continue to work with Committee staff to provide support to assist efforts to advance the bill following the election, during the “lame duck” Congress.
